I love sharing the snippets of love and laughter from Clear As Day, but despite all the fun with friends and the summer vacation setting, Nate and Kay are still caught in the fears and uncertainties of their changing relationship:
She wanted to bury her face against his chest and forget the past screaming in her head.
“I promise,” he said quietly, his gaze firm and face solemn. “Never to hurt you.”
Unable to bear the look in his eyes, she shut hers and touched her mouth to his. How could he promise that, even if he meant it? No matter what they promised, people always hurt each other.
